The 15 best seafood restaurants in Astoria (2024)

Taverna Kyclades is a bustling restaurant located in Astoria, NY, known for its fresh Greek seafood and vibrant atmosphere. Despite not taking reservations, the eatery draws in crowds, including celebrities like George Clooney and Bill Murray. The chef sources the finest swordfish, red snapper, octopus, and squid from local markets each morning to prepare simple yet flavorful dishes on the grill or stovetop.

This place was perfect. We came on New Years Eve for lunch/brunch so I expected service to be impacted. To my surprise, the service was phenomenal even though they were very busy. Our server, Gussy, was helpful and quick! The food was unbelievably delicious. We got the seafood dish for two with clams, scallops, shrimp, lobster tail, and fish: it was a perfect meal.

Astoria in Queens has many good Greek restaurants. This is one of my favorite restaurants in this area. I ordered the Greek salad with feta cheese, fried calamari, grilled fish, and grilled octopus (super soft!) and they are all delicious! They also have a good selection of wine! Highly recommended!

Food was amazing! Best Greek food I have had in a while. Most go to, wait can be long. I don't think reservations are available. Wait list only. Place is packed and crowded. Gives you that cozy feeling, might not have much room to stand/ walk. Gives you amazing tasting free dessert!!!Lemon potatoes are to die for, same with the grilled octopus.

One of the best places to get fresh seafood in NYC. All of the dishes we got are great, especially the fried calamari, stuffed clams, and the broiled scallops. The portion is also very generous, and the service is great. They even gave us a free dessert at the end. Will definitely come back to try more dishes

One of the popular Greek restaurants in Astoria. It’s always full and long wait. Food is good and price is reasonable for the portion. My favorite dish is the Greek salad. Not sure where they find the tomato which is so fresh and tasty. I have been here a few times. Service is good. But the table is really small and crowded.

The new space for this restaurant is so much better. The food is delicious as always. I haven't had anything I have not liked on the menu yet. Ok, I didn't like the shark, but that was not the restaurants fault, I just didn't like the texture. But the food is all cooked perfectly with a lot of flavor. The fish was tasty and the sides are so yum. I really like the potatoes and chard. The service is fine, waiter feels very traditional. The hostess was so awesome and friendly. I really liked her being the front of this establishment. She was awesome. Overall I enjoy eating here despite the wait. There is always a wait to get a table. But that's probably because it is so popular.

Really liked the food, not too much added flavors but the ingredients itself was fresh and tasty. The waitress was really nice and had a very sweet smile when serving us which made the night even more pleasant. They even gave us free dessert!Would take friends here anytime!

The food was great. Even though it was small place and busy, the service was great. For the food we ordered 4 appetizers which was enough for 2 of us, but we saw people ordered couple of main courses. The good part was we ordered appetizers and find out we are full, so we were fine.Food was delicious. We ordered grilled octopus, grilled calamari, and stuffed clams, my favorite one was calamari. They offer free breads and dessert. Highly recommended

Our first time eating at their new location. Everything was delicious. Their seafood is the best! The grilled octopus was very tender and tasty. Portion size was also excellent compared to other places. The mixed dips were also very good. The grilled shrimp and lemon potatoes were also delicious. Staff was very nice and attentive.

One of the most famous Greek restaurants in New York. The portions are great, and not so expensive. However not the greatest, especially anything “stuffed”, it’s very average. But any other plates are good! The octopus is delicious and huge, highly recommend! Make sure you reserve a table ahead because there is always a wait time cause is packed!!! Atmosphere is great, the service could be better (they need to be more attentive), but everyone is very nice, and of course I love supporting my fellow Greeks.

This place is an authentic Greek restaurant with Greek culture. Κλαίρη was amazing! She welcomed us with the best service. It was my first time whilst my friend who is Greek wanted me to see “Greece in New York” and it didn’t disappoint.Food is shareable when you order it. We ordered 4 appetizers. Very much European style. This restaurant always has a wait time for a good reason. 99 percent of the food is amazing. We have to keep coming back to keep trying everything. You’ll love this place if you like FOOD! 💙

I would give 10 for service!Guys, I haven’t received such hospitality in NYC ever. Very attentive, kind and friendly. Yes, they were all very kind. We dined with kids, and all the staff was so patient and mindful about kids. Besides that, water was just appearing in glasses very magically. Our table was always cleaned. Food was great! We had grilled calamari, grilled octopus and fried smelt. Everything was really exquisite! Kids shared pasta, the portion was very big and had lots of seafood there. They loved it!Thank you guys, I really cannot wait to come back! I would also like to mention our server, Juliette, who was taking care of us, thank you!

What to say about this place!!!!!!For many many years they keep their standard of fresh seafood that is prepared in a simple Greek style but oh so delicious. Over and over again it makes me happy when I get there and eat….from the grilled or fried calamari and amazing octopus to whole red snapper or branzino, and don’t forget the grilled shrimp…Their traditional salad is a must too….I would say one of the best seafood places in NYC not only Astoria. Love it ❤️

A friend flew in from overseas and we wanted to WOW him on some great food. He wanted seafood and Kyclades came to mind immediately. This venue is the highlight of Astoria for gastronomy. 🥇🥇We enjoyed the outdoor seating by the side street. Alton & the staff provided top notch service. Felt like we were dining at a Michelin star ⭐️ restaurant. The Branzino & Saganaki were spectacular! Loved the complimentary raisin bread. The grilled octopus 🐙 was not as magnificent as I remembered but still good. Great dessert, also complimentary 👍.Was hoping to say hello to Andre the owner but must be consumed with the success and hard work of running 3 establishments.Very impressed & pleased with the entire experience. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

The service was excellent, and the food was spectacular. If you're looking for truly authentic, Greek food, service, and excellent decor, this a must. Everyone was super nice and attentive. The dining area was very accommodating and conformable for our large party of 13 people. If you're looking for a date night, family night, birthday dinner, graduation party, or just want to eat delicious Greek food. Come here!

This is a quintessential Greek restaurant that all New Yorkers must visit. The first time I went to Kyclades was more than 10 years ago, and the restaurant did not change a bit since!Where to start :) they don't take reservations, you should come in and put your name with a hostess, the usual wait time is 30 min +. Once seated you will be served by a handsome Greek man. The food usually comes pretty fast, you might need to wait a bit longer for the main course. I always order Greek salad here, some sort or fish and a side of lemon potatoes. Last time we ordered stuffed clams and they were just finger licking good! Grilled octopus was juicy and delicious as well. What should I say about branzino - you couldn't get better tasting one in miles' radius! House wine is good too!At the end of your meal you get a great bonus - a piece of Greek custard pie on the house! What could be better than that to end a feast for your stomach :)

The best Greek restaurant in NYC for sure! One of our favorite restaurants in our neighborhood! It’s always a long line of wait, so be sure to be there earlier or make a reservation in advance. The seafood was awesome and the outdoor dining was very nice especially during the sunset, feels like in Greece! The branzino was our favorite, and the roasted baby shark is also yummy! We had an amazing night dining here, will come next time with family and friends to try more dishes!

You won’t find a better place to eat fresh-er fish and/or seafood in the whole of Northeast, prepared to perfection. The kitchen is open for anyone to see, the service is top notch and everyone is always with a smile. The chef is caring, comes on each table and checks on patrons to see if anything is missing. The owner does the same, he’s on top of his business like very few I’ve seen. Great hospitality, great food, super clean and great service. I wish I was living closer, I’d eat there at least twice a week.*this review is for the restaurant at Bayside

I loved loved this place!!!It was a very busy Monday (Labour Day weekend) but we managed to grab a table inside.Although the place was so busy I loved the atmosphere!Your mouth will just start watering after seeing the awesome wait staff walk by with all the food!We wanted to have a light lunch so we decided to share a Greek salad, grilled calamari and the chicken kabob, the portions are so big that it didn’t feel like a light lunch after all. The food was delicious, fresh and super tasty. Our waiter was great, the whole staff was, in fact, friendly and courteous! They seem to have a lot of regulars, which always speaks great of a restaurant!I can’t wait to come back and try other items from the menu such as the whole fish and octopus!

My favorite restaurant, been coming here for many years now and i highly recommend because the food comes fresh to the table. Greek Salad, Fried Calamari, Greek Chicken, and Red Snapper. Our server was Marco and he did an amazing job to accommodate our table. Try drinking water with lemon because it gives the aesthetic vibes to your water and it’s healthy. They also give you a complimentary Baklava.

Best seafood restaurant in Queens. Great food and even better service. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The decor was really nice, the vibe of the place was really enjoyable. Make sure to make a reservation before going. The price is on the more expensive side but it’s worth it for the quality of the food and service. They also give you free desert! Highly recommend this for a date night or even just a casual dinner spot. Best Greek Seafood spot without a doubt.

Very good Greek food - expect a queue on the weekend, but the outside area is pretty spacious. Really enjoyed the big seafood platter, the garlic potatoes were fantastic, and free desert was a welcome surprise!Definitely recommend sitting outside, and inside can get very hectic and crowded, but well worth trying for some great seafood!

Our seafood go-to spot never disappoints! They always serve fresh seafood, salads, breads and drinks. My favorite dish is the Greek salad with Greek sausage or their fried calamari. They also give free dessert every time and have great prices. This place is a must-visit when in Astoria, Queens.

It's definitely the best seafood in the area. The food is delicious and fresh - grilled octopus, grilled calamari, fried anchovies, and Greek salad are some of my favorites. The service is great and I love the free dessert.

First time trying this well-known Greek restaurant. Overall is great. Only concerned is the salmon steak is little salty and it has bones. Not recommended for kids. But grilled octopus, Greek salad and lamp chops are really tasty. I will definitely go back.

If you want authentic and delicious Greek food, then you need to come here. Everything on the menu is amazing, and the hospitality is always spot on! You will receive complementary bread for the table when you arrive and before you depart they give you complementary dessert. Their seafood is some of the freshest I have ever had in my life, and we travel a ton for food so that means a lot! Their octopus is my favorite dish along with the kyclades platter! Their lamb is delicious too. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu!! We have been coming here as a family for 10+ years, it use to be my parents go to spot before my dad passed. My mother is very hard to please when it comes to restaurant, but she loves this place. She always enjoys the food here, and I have never heard her complain! This place is always packed, so you know they are doing something right! They have a small bar, outdoor seating and there is street parking if you’re driving in. 10/10 recommend!!

Been there 4/5 times already but still same delicious tasty food just felt like the first time! Very busy spot but makes sense why they are always busy. Apart from great foods, also they deserve applause for being very organized and quick serving. Mussels-Calamari-Greek Salam were mouthwatering as appetizer! Salmon steak is all time classy, branzino is so good, and lamb chop is juicy fantastic. Overall great experience every time I go there 🤞🏼👏🏼🔥
