iRacing recommended GPU system requirements

Here’s what iRacing requires you in terms of graphics card for playing the game at maximum performance:

iRacing Graphics Settings List for Optimal FPS (4)

  • Minimum:2GB Dedicated vRAM
  • Recommended:6GB Dedicated vRAM
  • High End:8+GB Dedicated vRAM

That goes all the way from an entry level Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 @ 2 GB / GTX 1050to a higher end GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB.

So make sure you’re falling in between this GPU specs before continuing with our graphics settings guide.

NVIDIA graphics control panel settings

Before diving into the iRacing in-game graphics settings, we’ll need to make sure that our GPU is set accordingly for maximizing performance without compromising our graphics card.

iRacing Graphics Settings List for Optimal FPS (5)

Here’s a complete list of all the settings from the NVIDIA control panel:

  • Image sharpening = Off
  • Anisotropic filtering = Application-controlled
  • Antialiasing FXAA = Off
  • Antialiasing Gamma correction = Off
  • Antialiasing Mode = Application-controlled
  • Antialiasing Transparency = 4x
  • CUDA GPUs = Use global setting
  • Low latency mode = Off
  • Max Frame Rate = Off
  • Multi-frame Sampled AA = Off
  • OpenGL rendering CPU = Use global setting (Auto-select)
  • Power management mode = Prefer maximum performance
  • Preferred refresh rate = Application-controlled

  • Texture filtering (Anisotropic sample) = Off
  • Texture filtering (Negative LOD bias) = Allow
  • Texture filtering (Quality) = High-quality
  • Texture filtering (Trilinear optimization) = Off
  • Threaded optimization = On
  • Triple buffering = Off
  • Vertical sync = Off
  • Virtual Reality (pre-rendered frames) = 3

After following all these instructions you should click on “Apply” and exit the Graphics Control panel.

We’ll now go over to the iRacing in-game settings.

  • Full Resolution = On
  • Max cars = 43
  • Dynamic LOD = World only
  • FPS = 91 (cars only)
  • Frame rate = No Limit
  • Anisotropic filtering = 16x
  • AA Samples/Mode = 4x
  • Max Pre-rendered Frames = 3
  • Max GPU Video Memory to use = 3686MB (Max value)
  • Max system memory to use (MB) = 8192MB (Middle value)

General iRacing graphics tips

So as you can see most of the settings are set to high levels, with the exception of a few things.

The reason why we’re not setting everything to max detail is because it’s not worth the performance loss, especially on lower-end GPUs.

iRacing Graphics Settings List for Optimal FPS (7)

You should also know that iRacing is pretty optimized in general, so you shouldn’t have any problems running the game smoothly even on medium-end PCs.

The one setting that you might want to change depending on your GPU is the Max GPU Memory usage, which you can set according to your GPU’s VRAM.

You can also change the Max frame rate setting depending on your monitor’s specs.

Conclusion

So here were our iRacing graphics settings guide, which you can use to get the best possible performance and image quality in-game.

These settings will allow you to not compromise your frames per second so that you can have a smooth and enjoyable experience while driving on iRacing.

We hope that this guide was helpful and that you’ll now be able to take your iRacing experience to the next level.

Good luck and we’ll see you on track 🙂
