Nuo buvusio Niurkonių dvaro, už 200 metrų į šiaurę, išlikęs akmeninis tinkuotas obeliskas. Ant jo buvusi vėjarodė, vaizduojanti raitelį ant pasibaidžiusio arklio. Vėjarodė, pasak vietinio gyventojo Antano Žostauto, buvo pagaminta iš balto metalo, nes jam dar buvus vaikui pokaryje vėjarodė buvo numušta, ir A. Žostautui pasisekė rasti žirgo koją. Į žirgą su raiteliu Pumpėnų stribai šaudydavo kaip į taikinį. Šaudė tol, kol numušė.

Obeliskas intrigavo savo vieta. Jeigu tai būtų dvaro puošybos elementas, jis būtų stovėjęs prie pat dvaro arba bent prie įvažiavimo į jį. Dar viena logiška bokšto pastatymo vieta būtų prie koplyčios. Legenda byloja, kad obeliskas pastatytas šių žemių paveldėtojui, vieninteliam dvarininko, generolo Juozapo Vavržeckio sūnui Aleksandrui, kuris mėgo jodinėti. Iki 1995 metų ant Niurkonių bokšto lizdą buvo įsitaisę gandrai. Jiems išskridus gandralizdis po truputį nyko. 2002 m. vasarą bokštas nukentėjo nuo žaibo, atsivėrė plyšys. Rudenį bokšto viršūnė buvo sutvarkyta, kad žiemą vanduo ir ledas jo neperskeltų.
