G&H collaborated with Rheinmetall Electronics UK (REUK) to enhance the Challenger 3 tank for the British Army with a state-of-the-art Embedded Image Periscope (EIP). Our integrated sighting system improves reconnaissance, surveillance, driver safety, and target acquisition. The customized EIP, featuring both glass and digital display technology, allows drivers a broader field of view with minimal effort and includes day and night modes as well as biocular for eye relief, adapting to different battlefield conditions. Newly appointed Chair of the R&D Council, Pete Kean, commented, “In the event that a vehicle loses all its power, you can’t use your displays or your situational awareness cameras that feed into this system. But the driver still needs to be able to see, to exit the threat in the environment. Through this system, a combined glass and electronic periscope, with the flick of a switch, you are just looking out of a glass periscope. So, in that ultra-threat scenario, you just flick the switch and drive.”This system, crucial in scenarios where vehicles might lose power, ensures continuity of vision through a simple switch to a glass periscope. Additionally, the EIP is designed to integrate seamlessly with digital systems like the Spectre camera system, enhancing the vehicle's operational capabilities and communication.
