I went down a great rabbit hole today reading about #Harlem's own Dr. Patricia Bath: one of the pioneers in laser cataract surgery, the first African American woman to complete a residency in ophthalmology, and the first African American female doctor to receive a medical patent. h/t The Harlem Neighborhood Block Association for lifting up this innovative woman in health care. Thank you!#communityhealth #womeninnovation#endhealthdisparitieshttps://lnkd.in/eCDaTNzb

I was glad to represent Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center at the launch of this partnership between the NYC Office of the Mayor and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. LaRay Brown was so on point in her remarks, urging the prevention of amputations, blindness, and dependence on expensive medications by giving all New Yorkers access to this expertise. #preventionispossible #foodasmedicine #healthequitynow #onebrooklynhealthhttps://lnkd.in/eXEqpTKR

Great data on the power of#prevention assembled in this piece, like: the NYC COVID#vaccinationcampaign averted $27.96 billion in health care expenditures and 315,724 potential years of life lost.
